We require staff who are wanting to use their current skills and passions to encourage development and supports within the lives of our participants within the Bendigo municipality.
About the role
We are seeking enthusiastic people who are passionate about supporting people with disabilities.
We provide a variety of support services which include our group support and individualised support services.
Group Supports provide the opportunities for adults and children to build on life skills such as cooking, self-advocacy, art, learning to live and travel independently, increasing health and wellbeing, sport and fitness, vocational skills and technology. Group supports also provide the opportunity for recreational activities.
Our Individualised Supports involves providing in house activities, community access for people with disabilities as well as in home skill development. Support workers may be required to perform personal care tasks where requested.
Selection Criteria
Essential
- Have common sense, good time management and communication skills
- Ability to support current staff to run engaging, educational programs for participants
- Be able to work independently, identify and problem solve
- Have great interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, supporters and the wider community
- Be able to establish and support community connections
- The ability to write effective notes after shifts on our data management system to provide accurate documentation of supports/ activities
- Have a device which can be used to read emails and access our online data management system
- Have the ability to manage stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
- Have the ability to carry out designated duties/tasks as per participants Individual Support Plan, Positive Support Plans, health plans, NDIS plans, mental health plans and other reasonable duties as required and in response to changing circumstances
- Current NDIS Workers Screening Check
- Completed NDIS Worker Orientation module
- Working with children (WWC card)
- Flexible hour hours 6 am until 11 pm, sleepovers and weekends
Desirable
- Certificate IV in Disability / Age Care or Mental health or studying toward other relevant qualification
- Epilepsy essentials certificate
- Dysphagia for Support Workers certificate
- Assisting clients with medication certificate
- First Aid and CPR certificate
- Valid driver’s licence
- Current comprehensive car insurance
