THE ROLE
We are seeking a Disability Support Worker, who has experience and qualifications in Mental Health, who is passionate about working with people living with a disability especially those who are disabled by Mental Health. We are looking for people who are eager to step into a rewarding role that allows you to combine your professional skills/experience and passion for caring for others. We place a higher value on those who have a positive mindset and a willingness to learn so if you are interested but don't have any experience, we would still like to hear from you. We will provide you with the training that you need to succeed.
The specifics of the role will change depending on the client; however, Disability Support Workers tend to focus on tasks that alleviate physical discomfort and promote social connectedness, independence, emotional well-being, and general health.
You will be supporting NDIS participants across all ages (5+), helping them and their support networks implement recommendations to improve their quality of life and reduce behaviors of concern.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
As this is a contractor role candidates need to have or be willing to gain the following essential requirements:
Essential Requirements
- Qualification in Mental Health
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- NDIS Workers Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’
- Australian working rights
- Working With Children Check
- Registered ABN
- Insurance that covers their Professional Indemnity (recommended min 1 million) and Public Liability (recommended min 10 million).
- 100 points of ID
- Certification in First Aid & CPR
Desirable
- Australian Driver's License or International Equivalent with regular access to a car.
- Certificate or Diploma in Community Services, Individual Support, Disability
- Prior experience dealing with participants who have a disability
- Prior experience dealing with participants who are disabled by Mental Health
- ADLs Experience (Activities of Daily Living)
- Domestic Cleaning Experience
