Directions Lifecare Support Services are a trusted NDIS Service Provider with their head office located in Albury/Wodonga. A dedicated workforce that provides professional care & support for those in need in our community and across the region. We provide overnight respite, supported accommodation, home care support, community access support and services offered by a Registered Nurse.
At Directions Lifecare we have tailored our Supports to suit the Mental Health aspect of the disability industry, we are proud to have adopted in our logo the green ribbon, the ribbon for mental health, and the Flannel flower - the national flower for Mental Health.
Qualifications & experience
- Certificate IV Individual Support and/or Mental Health (Preferred but not necessary).
- Behaviour (often referred as MAPA) (Preferred but not necessary).
- Communication skills and Resilience.
- Working independently is crucial and must have good judgement.
- NDIS Workers Screening Check (or ability to obtain), Working with Children Checks in both NSW & VIC (or ability to obtain), First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain), and Current Driver Licence.
Tasks, Responsibilities and Desired Qualities
- Ability to learn, follow and implement strategies in a behaviour support plan.
- The ability to provide effective redirection to People in crisis.
- Provide companionship and support during daily activities.
- Be patient and understanding as well as compassionate and empathetic.
- Assistance with domestic chores such as shopping for food, cooking, cleaning and transport to appointments or Social events.
- Provide daily personal care for people with disabilities. These tasks may include helping them to maintain general hygiene, dressing or supporting them through their disability programs.
- Organising social outings and providing emotional support.
- Work with a team of Health Professionals, Family, Friends and Carers to implement a program of support.
- Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks.
- Being able to tailor your communication techniques to the Individual you're supporting and take the time to understand their needs.
- Assisting with medication.
- De-escalation of Behaviours and be confident in Conflict resolution.
