About the role:
Our "Next Step Program" are designed for school leavers who are keen to up-skill and become work-ready. We assist participants to attain the necessary skills, qualifications, experience and independence to achieve their vocational and life goals in a fun and supportive way.
We are seeking permanent part-time Disability Support Workers who are dedicated, positive, enthusiastic and customer-focused. Working at our office in North Wollongong, the successful candidate will be a member of a team responsible for assisting school leavers to develop goals and implement strategies that will help them be "job-ready". Supporting the Program Facilitator on a part-time basis, a minimum 12 hours a week in group sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with the possibility to pick up extra hours within our Day Options services throughout the week.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Familiarity with Person-Centred Planning to identify an individual’s employment pathway.
- Previous experience in a Teacher's Aide, Social Worker or Job coach role will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience of working with young people with mental health disabilities is especially regarded.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships and networks within the community such as schools, employment and business support services and other organizations.
- Excellent communication skills to build rapport with families, carers, and their support networks.
- Be a key creative link with our participants: prepare and present new content and ideas to the participants on a weekly basis
- Maintain accurate records and provide information for reporting purposes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of participants and employees.
- Valid Driver Licence and working rights checks including an NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check prior to commencing employment.
