The Role
Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain, the Distribution Centre Manager -VIC is responsible for overseeing and directing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and embroidery functions at the DC in Victoria. The role entails inspiring, coaching, and nurturing the logistics team to foster a working environment where established procedures, continuous improvement, and efficient processes are embraced, to deliver high-quality results. The incumbent will assume the responsibility for managing the business towards attaining specified targets, KPIs and adhering to allocated and signed off budgets.
In this capacity, the DC Manager will supervise all DC - VIC operations including stock movements both inbound and outbound, the embroidery function, replenishments for the store network, and meeting stock requirements for major account customers.
Your primary focus will be on optimising productivity efficiencies and ensuring excellent customer service, specifically supporting the store network and providing high quality service to RSEA B2B and B2C customers.
An integral component of the role entails overseeing and delivering training on safety protocols to all team members, ensuring the establishment of a secure, and harmonious working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to ensure achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives
- Implement operational improvement initiatives to increase productivity
- Coach, develop and drive continuous improvement with the team
- Manage the Embroidery team responsible for supporting the Retail and B2B customers
- Create a positive and collaborative culture of commitment and professionalism
- Oversee and manage WHS safe operating practice
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in managing large teams in logistics environment.
- Extensive logistics operations experience, across the entire supply chain.
- Demonstrate a hands-on, lead-by-example management approach.
- Strong understanding of cost management, financial acumen and the ability to deliver business outcomes across the supply chain network.
- Experience managing supplier relationships, including freight forwarders and domestic transport providers.
- Deep retail sector supply chain expertise including planning, forecasting and replenishment.
- Proven ability to be hands-on when required, responsive to business needs, and possess strategic thinking.
- Proven record of building service-focused and performing teams.
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and developing others
- Present a record of managing, training and implementing OH & S function in a Warehouse/DC environment.
- Professional and high ethical behaviours dealing with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Tertiary qualification in logistics, supply chain, commerce or related disciplines. (graduate diploma/degree is desirable).
Functional/Technical Skills and Competencies
- Possess a valid Forklift License with demonstrated usage in relevant warehouse operations (desirable).
- Hold an OHS&E qualification.
- Demonstrate decision-making aligned with RSEA policies and procedures.
- Manage the staffing, budgeting, rostering and workforce planning.
- Support the establishment of supplier evaluation criteria and methods of analysis.
- Contribute to defining parameters for negotiating terms and conditions with suppliers.
- Manage the Change Management process and implement Process Improvement Strategies in the NDC.
- Make informed decisions considering market, economic, social, and political environments.
- Experience with a Union related Site is an essential requirement.
- Promote teamwork and ensure harassment free and harmonious working environment.
