Tangara School for Girls is currently seeking to engage two suitably qualified Diverse Learning Coordinators. One Coordinator role will be dedicated to Primary School while the other will be dedicated to Secondary School. Both roles are permanent full time roles, commencing as soon as possible. 

The Diverse Learning Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the Diverse Learning Team is supporting the additional learning needs of students. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the key duties of this role include:

  • Work collaboratively with the Diverse Learning team and staff to coordinate resourcing required for students with additional learning needs
  • Develop and evaluate Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and students
  • Support and train teachers to implement IEPs, including the modification of class activities, and assessments and effective differentiation
  • Deliver numeracy and literacy interventions with students, working collaboratively with the class teachers
  • Work collaboratively with the Diverse Learning team and staff to design and implement procedures for identifying students with giftedness
  • Provide professional development for teaching staff to enhance programming for students with gifted and talented needs. 
  • Work collaboratively with external specialists such as psychologists, parents and mentors to support students with additional learning needs
  • Assist to coordinate the collection, management, and reporting of data regarding students with disabilities
  • Assist with disability provisions and adjustments during assessments and exams

To be successful in this role, you would need to confidently demonstrate the following key skills and experience:

  • Qualification in primary or secondary education 
  • Specialist qualification and/or experience in special education 
  • Experience in developing & evaluating Individual Educational Plans 
  • Ability to support teachers to implement IEPs 
  • Commitment to put students at the heart of the education process 
  • An understanding of and ability to differentiate curriculum and ability to conduct standardised testing 
  • Willingness to conduct numeracy and literacy interventions with students, working collaboratively with the class teachers 
  • Use data to drive progress and improve existing provisions 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with and implement strategies given by external specialists such as psychologists  
  • Willingness to support the Christian ethos of the School 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents and mentors
