What you'll be doing
The Integrated Violence Prevention & Response Service (IVPRS) is responsible for strategic leadership, clinical service provision and capacity building for the portfolio areas of sexual assault, Domestic Violence and child protection.
The Domestic Violence counsellor positions are responsible for the provision of specialist therapeutic and case management services to clients who have experienced recent Domestic Violence and their children.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Sexual Assault Worker or Counselling 

Selection Criteria

1. Tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor degree) in Social Work, Psychology, Sexual Assault Worker or Counselling and eligibility for appropriate professional registration or association membership.
2. Demonstrated experience working in Domestic Violence service delivery settings, with advanced knowledge of safety planning and child protection issues.
3. Demonstrated high level assessment, case formulation, intervention planning (including case management) and counselling skills with adults, with capacity to implement a range of therapeutic models.
4. Demonstrated high level understanding of the inter-related dynamics and effects of Domestic Violence, sexual assault, physical abuse and neglect and a commitment to integrated models for working with clients who have experienced trauma and abuse.
5. Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to Domestic Violence and other forms of interpersonal violence and knowledge of legal systems involved in Domestic Violence service provision.
6. Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated capacity to work with in partnership with others.
7. Experience in, or commitment to, working with individuals and families from indigenous backgrounds and/or diverse cultural backgrounds.
8. Hold a current driver's license valid in Australia and willingness to use for work purposes
