W Sydney is now casting for a Duty Engineer to facilitate repairs and maintenance to support the engineering operations. Reporting to the Engineering management team, this integral role provides support to the business and presents an amazing opportunity to play a key role in the world’s largest W Hotel.
The Duty Engineer’s primary responsibilities include assisting Engineering management in executing strategies that maintain the building, contents and grounds with particular attention towards fire life safety, security and asset protection. The position inspects, repairs and maintains HVAC, air quality control, and refrigeration equipment. Maintain and conduct daily inspections of the mechanical plant. Monitor and control property temperature. Monitor and analyse energy and utilities usage via the BMS. Calibrate all controls, gauges, meters, and other equipment as required. Assemble, install, test, repair, and maintain electrical systems or electronic wiring. Assemble, install and maintain pipe assemblies, fittings and valves. Perform routine pool and spa maintenance.
Executes against objectives outlined in the Engineering Business Plan and delivers services that meet and exceed the needs of guests and enable business success. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and HIDs (standard operating procedures).

Talent Profile
Education & Experience Required
- Qualifications in Engineering Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing highly advantageous.
- Minimum two years’ experience in engineering/facilities in busy, luxury hotel/hospitality environment.
- Hospitality experience will be advantageous.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a strong attention to detail.

- Performs daily building rounds and effectively logs all follow up points.
- Diagnoses and repairs guest room automation features.
- Assists with maintaining fire life safety assets and systems.

- Supports external contractors and outsourced preventative maintenance programs.
- Support budget control and expenses.
- Effective communication of spare parts supplies and equipment control.
- Drive synergies with key departments and stakeholders.
- Available to support flexible rotating roster.
- Supports and innovates energy, water and waste conservation programs.
