Full time ongoing position (part time considered)
Salary: $97,922 - $122,400 + super + up to $15,900 in salary packaging
Hybrid WFH & office model within a supportive team
About the role:The Early Careers Specialist leads VLA's work to attract, engage and develop VLA's future talent - particularly through delivering our Pathways Programs for Clerks, Graduates and New Lawyers. Part of the Strategic Resourcing Team, you will develop and manage an Early Careers Framework for VLA, including innovative and effective strategies to attract and nurture new talent groups.The role collaborates widely across VLA to support VLA to build a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the clients we serve and delivers legal assistance where Victorians need it most.
On a day-day basis you will:
Engage stakeholders (both internal and external) to attract, engage, select and onboard new talent to VLA
Act as a brand ambassador of VLA externally - including organising and presenting with confidence at external events e.g. Universities, Careers Fairs and hosting events at VLA
Work with others across VLA, including direct contact with People Business Partners, executives, senior lawyers and our learning and teams to organise engaging functions and programs for students, and coordinate host placements for our pathways participants
Design and deliver innovative engagement programs, campaigns and promotions to provide prospective candidates with insights into the Legal Assistance sector, and the career opportunities we offer. Proactively engage with community groups and networks to promote VLA as an employer to key groups who may not otherwise consider a career with us
Work collaboratively across our People and Workplace Services, professional Legal Education and Legal services management teams to design, project-manage, organise and lead VLA's Pathways programs
Identify and proactively manage emerging talent
The team are based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country, although we're happy to discuss being based at any of VLA offices across Victoria.
About you:As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
Experience in a similar role, preferably in legal, government or within a complex organisation
Strong collaboration skills, with demonstrated experience in working across multiple teams
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work proactively with senior stakeholders internally and at universities
Problem solving skills and a willingness to take ownership
Excellent candidate management experience and focus
