About the business and the role
Little Swans Early Learning is a a centre located in Swan Hill. Swan Hill is 350 kilometres north of Melbourne on the Murray River. Our centre is currently licensed for 78 places, but operates at a maximum of 65, which is broken down into three rooms. An over three and kinder room of 33 children, a toddler room of 20 children and a baby room of 12 children. We are a family owned, purpose built centre, that opened in February 2017. We are currently seeking Educators for two of our rooms who will be responsible for the care and education of our children in this space, working in conjunction with our team and Educational Leader / Early Childhood Teacher. The majority of our staff are hired on a permanent Full Time basis which assists with giving consistency of staff throughout the week for all of our children.
We have recently completed an Assessment and Rating and achieved a Meeting rating overall, but received Exceeding for both our Educational Program and Physical Environment.
Desirable qualities of applicants include:
- A warm, smiling face that makes every child feel special and loved.
- A little bit of quirkiness. If a child requests that you be the captain of a pirate ship, you will be the best pirate captain you can be.
- You must have the ability to read a ten page fairytale with at least one interruption per page.
- Authentically showing an interest in and curiosity for bugs and creepy crawlies is essential, even if they are your biggest fear on earth.
- You must be prepared to have a lot of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working day
- You must be prepared to feel loved, special, and important to many young children and their families.

Job tasks and responsibilities
- Takes initiative in planning decisions related to the educational program and it's development and implementation
- Keeps records of educational program and individual child development working with the whole team to be involved in this process.
- Gives clear information during communication with others
- Has professional relationships with families e.g. Develops rapport with families, communicates with the family about their child
- Shares information and gives feedback (oral or written) to colleagues, families and other agencies
- Contributes effectively to the team by offering support, assistance and sharing ideas.
- able to use feedback and critically reflect to improve own performance
