CBC Fremantle is a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition for boys in Years 7 to 12. Founded by the Christian Brothers in 1901, the College has an outstanding reputation for having served the local Fremantle community for over a century helping families to raise boys who continually strive for excellence and who exhibit Catholic Leadership in their quest to establish a more just and peaceful society.

The successful applicant will be expected to work cooperatively with all members of the teaching staff in the interests of the students. They will primarily assist a student with their integration into mainstream school at CBC Fremantle. We are seeking an innovative, flexible and forward-thinking team member, who will be enthusiastic about their work and open to challenge and change. The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively, efficiently and discreetly in a support role with a number of teachers.
Experience in working with a student with special needs is desirable. In carrying out these duties you are directly responsible to the Head of Learning Area – Academic Care and the Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the direction of classroom teachers and the Head of Academic Care, provide in-class support to individuals and small groups of students with particular special learning needs.
- Work independently, one on one, with students implementing learning activities and IEP goals.
- Assisting teachers with the modification and adjustment of curriculum materials.
- Assisting students in the use of modified and adjusted resources.
- Assisting teachers with the construction and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Provide and record feedback on students’ day to day behaviour, progress and well-being to classroom teachers and Head of Academic Care.
- Assist with managing the medical needs of students with disabilities e.g. PEG feeds, glucose monitoring.
- Supervision of students with disabilities during school breaks and on excursions, incursions and other College events.
- Undertaking other duties appropriate to the role under the direction of the Head of Academic Care.
- As part of the Academic Care Team, promoting policy and practice which ensures just outcomes for students with particular learning needs.
- Be willing to undertake formation programs with Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA) as required by the College.
- Attend meetings and relevant professional development opportunities as required by the Principal.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the Principal.
Position Details
- Part-time (0.8FTE) fixed term contract, with the possibility of full time by negotiation.
- Fixed term commencing as soon as possible, concluding 6 December 2024.
