We have an opening for an experienced Educational Leader to join and lead a team of passionate educators at Ainslie Out of School Hours Care (Ainslie OSHC). Ainslie OSHC is a not-for-profit organisation, overseen by Ainslie School P&C Association and managed by a volunteer Parent Sub Committee.
The service aims to provide quality, affordable care for all primary school age children (5–12 years of age) attending Ainslie School in a safe, caring, happy, relaxed, friendly, warm and stimulating environment. Our Before and After School Care service offers care for children who attend Ainslie School. The School Holiday Program is offered to all school age children during ACT Government school holiday periods.
About the role
The ideal candidate will assist the Director and Management team in coordinating the daily operations of the service to ensure compliance with outside hours school care legislation, national regulations, policies and procedures as well as implementing and monitoring the education program within the relevant national framework. The Educational Leader has an influential role in inspiring, motivating, affirming and also challenging and extending the practice and pedagogy of the educators at the service.
The role is a full-time position, with 38 hours per week, paying 20% above Award wages and Educational Leader allowance. The position will initially be subject to a 6-month probation period.
Role Duties
- To collaborate with educators and provide curriculum direction and guidance.
- To plan and monitor the implementation of a balanced program, that is focused on the children’s interests and needs.
- Lead the development and implementation of an effective educational program in the service.
- Planning and implementing programs for children with additional needs, including, but not limited to, children with disabilities and children of non-English speaking background.
- To supervise the programs and the quality of care that the service provides.
- Assisting in the service's administrative functions.
- To maintain and assist with the development of the service's policies and practices.
- To achieve and maintain clear and open communication with all staff in the service.
- To build and maintain effective and professional working relationships with other staff engaged by the P&C to work within the service.
- To ensure compliance with all Government Regulations, legislation, licensing requirements, standards and requirements.
- To maintain confidentiality in dealing with parents and staff on sensitive issues.
- To assist in the maintenance of accurate child attendance records.
- To assist in making purchases of resources and maintaining records of purchases.
Essential Criteria
- A minimum Diploma in School Age Education and Care/or working towards Bachelor of Education or equivalent
- First Aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation Certificate (CPR).
- A strong commitment to, and understanding of the National Quality Framework, and My Time, Our Place (The School Age Curriculum Framework)
- Working with Vulnerable People registration
- Demonstrate an enthusiastic and positive approach to working with children and staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.
- Experience in the planning and implementation of programs to engage children of all ages and abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and training staff, as well as fostering a strong team environment.
