MFOSHC is a not-for-profit Centre providing Out of School Hours Care services to the Miles Franklin Primary School. We offer a high standard of education and care meeting the diverse educative needs of children and families of the Miles Franklin Community. Our strong and positive relationships have been established through our safe and inclusive environment with respectful, supportive and responsive interactions with our school community.
The Role
We are seeking a dynamic person to undertake the role of MFOSHC Educational Leader/2IC. As Educational Leader you will work closely with our Centre Director and our experienced Team Leaders and Educators in the delivery of a play-based program for children attending OSHC and Vacation Care at Miles Franklin Primary School. As part of the leadership team of the Centre, you will be the responsible person in day-to-day charge as required in the roster and in the absence of the Director.
Previous experience in a similar role and understanding of the National Quality Standards and My time our place framework is required.
The successful candidate will have access to professional development, off floor administration hours and support to undertake the responsibilities and key requirements of the role.
We will provide on the job training and support. This role would also be a great training ground for a candidate that has a future career goal to be a Centre Director.
Selection Criteria
The suitable candidate will ideally have experience in programming, administration, time management, leading others, teamwork, knowledge of Child Care Legislative and Regulatory requirements, ability to contribute to the development of the Quality Improvement Plan, a strong understanding of school aged children and knowledge and commitment to the My Time Our Place framework.
Essential requirements for this position are:
- Hold a current Working with Vulnerable Persons (WWVP) card and the ability to pass an ACT Police check.
- Be 1st Qualified (or close to achieving) under the ACECQA requirements for 1st Qualified staff in an OSHC environment.
- A current first-aid ((HLTAID004) & (HLTAID003) certificates and asthma and anaphylaxis training or willingness to undertake training in this area.
- The ability to interact and communicate well with children/ educators/ team leaders and build positive relationships with families.
- Proven experience in a similar role and the ability to work with and contribute to a team.
About you
The position would suit a candidate who is confident, creative, well organised, able to work independently and as a member of a large team and can engage with children in an authentic and positive way.
HOURS
This role is a Permanent Part-time, 32.5 - 37.5 hours per week (negotiable) Non- contact and administration hours are included. Ideally the candidate needs flexible availability to cover centre core hours in the absence of the Centre Director, however if you are currently studying, your timetable will be considered. BSC shifts would be expected in the role as well as the availability for some Monday to Friday afternoon shifts for after school care.
The successful applicant will be available to work Monday to Friday. There is a requirement for on floor work to supervise and ensure the programs are running smoothly, this role is not generally counted in ratio of the Centre. Availability for Team Leader meetings and Staff meetings are also a requirement for this position. Leaders Meetings are held once a week and Staff meetings are held 1 to 2 times a term. MFOSHC core hours are Before School Care (7.30am-9.00am) and After School Care (3.00pm-6.00pm).
The duties for this position apply to term-time only and rostered hours will be amended to support the vacation care program during school holiday periods.
There is a requirement to work at least one split shift across the week.
Salary as per the Children’s Services Award 2010 – Level 5 negotiable with an over award component considered based on qualification and experience.
The Centre
MFOSHC is located at Miles Franklin Primary School in Alderman Street Evatt ACT and is operated by the Miles Franklin P&C Association.
We have a strong food service and sustainability program, an innovative and fun school holiday program and creative and enjoyable educational and care based term time program.
