We manage 25,000 buildings, 6,000 other structural assets, and 150,000 fixed plant and equipment items.As Base Manager for RAAF Williamtown, you have an opportunity to be at the heart of day-to-day base operations, directly supporting Australia's national interests. You will lead a small team responsible for assuring a range of essential services that sustain Defence's living, working and training environments at the base.The position is an executive leadership role with considerable independence to manage complex customer relationships, and negotiate with a diverse range of stakeholders in order to achieve service delivery outcomes. Your team is responsible for supporting Defence capability through the effective provision of base services including the implementation of safety, risk, emergency and security management. They will deliver customer focused outcomes through effective, integrated partnerships with senior members of the Australian Defence Force, customers, contract partners and other stakeholders. The team works in a fast-paced environment bringing rewarding challenges and a great sense of purpose. It's an exciting role and environment where no two days are really the same.Some common Base Manager functions however do include:
- Engaging with senior Defence stakeholders and managing support activities across base,
- Working closely with industry partners focusing on compliance and review of service delivery standards,

- Exercising people management skills and knowledge in leading a high performing and cohesive team.
The East & West Zone (EWZ) is a branch within Security & Estate Group that provides essential, on-the-ground services and support to the Australian Defence Force and Defence APS employees at locations across New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, South Australia and Western Australia.You will be part of an executive management team responsible for Base Management, Estate Planning, and Environmental Protection and Sustainability Awareness in NSW. This work is a critical business enabler of Defence capabilities, the long-term sustainability of the estate and ensuring Defence's compliance with legislative requirements.Working in close collaboration with a Senior Australian Defence Force Officer you will have the authority to coordinate and administer whole-of-base support functions, including security, access control, WHS and emergency management planning.Our Ideal Candidate
