The EL 1Systems Manager leads the Systems Support team within the Defence Cyber College (DCC), a team of 5 APS and contractor system developers and administrators, anticipated to grow as the DCC matures. The Systems Manager will exercise a considerable degree of independence, being accountable to plan, lead and manage people and resources, as well as manage contracts and key stakeholder relationships to achieve required outcomes.
The team is responsible for the operation, integration and management of systems and equipment to deliver a seamless user experience to training developers, instructors, students and administrators as well as wider learning enterprise stakeholders.
These systems and equipment include:
- Cyber Ranges
- Learning Management Systems
- Intranet and student portals
- Cyber Operations Tactical Mission training equipment
- Commercial online cyber training subscription services
- Basic IT and networking equipment including associated software
The additional payment is a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP) which enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the rate of salary otherwise payable under the Enterprise Agreement (EA) to some or all of the jobs within a critical occupation(s) or discipline within a workplace. Applicants engaged into a BDCP position must consider the following. BDCPs provide remuneration in addition to the Defence Enterprise Agreement (EA).
This arrangement is subject to meeting eligibility criteria and is subject to annual review. Should your performance fall beyond requirements or the eligibility criteria not be met, your eligibility for the BDCP may be reviewed and ceased. It may also be ceased should you change positions or the requirement for the BDCP is no longer necessary, as determined by Defence. Should the BDCP be ceased you will be advised and your BDCP additional payment will cease.

We are 25 highly motivated individuals of multi-disciplined backgrounds, representing a partnership between Defence and the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD). Our mission is to train a cyber-warfare workforce ready to target adversary systems and counter emerging cyber threats to Australia and its national interests.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading people to achieve outcomes in complex ICT environments, and be excited about delivering technologies in support of a rapidly developing training capability, critical to national security. Cyber security operations knowledge, and experience working with cyber ranges and/or learning management systems would be highly desirable.
