The Role
As an EL2 Director in the Security and Estate Group, Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch you will be responsible for all aspects of capital facilities and infrastructure program and project planning, development and delivery, contract and financial management. You will apply sound program and project management expertise to develop and lead a team delivering a broad range of complex facilities and infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an energetic and influential Director who will leverage their advanced leadership, communication and program management skills to harness skills and expertise of personnel and contractors while contributing as a member of the Security and Estate Group leadership team to achieving broader Division, Defence and Commonwealth outcomes.
About our Team
The Capital Facilities and Infrastructure Branch is responsible for the development, approval and delivery of projects in the Enterprise Estate and Infrastructure Program, including the carriage of projects through the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works process. There are eight Project Directorates in the Branch responsible for the development and delivery of assigned major capital facilities and infrastructure projects across Australia, which support Australian Defence Force capability.
We are dedicated to providing our staff with a manageable and favourable work-life balance, and we support flexible working arrangements. We will also invest in your training and development to ensure your time with us is deeply rewarding, both personally and professionally. We are committed to achieving a workplace culture that is inclusive and diverse; one which directly reflects the needs and scope of Defence’s varied operational requirements.
Working with us provides a unique opportunity to develop commercial acumen and to work with Government and industry to deliver key infrastructure projects.
Our Ideal Candidate
Prior experience in program and/or project management is highly desirable. Stakeholder liaison and negotiation skills and a passion for driving and facilitating improved ways of working are essential. As a leadership team member, the Director will represent the Branch, lead by example and contribute outside of their immediate and formal areas of responsibility. The Director will be responsible for guiding a team in developing Government submission proposals and ensuring the effective passage through the approval process. The Director will be skilled in influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives, based on sound decision making and practical judgement.
The successful candidate will establish and maintain strong relationships with a network of stakeholders internally and externally, and will have the ability to recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes. This position has people management responsibility and, as such, you will be required to exercise your people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team.
