About the role:
As the Assistant Director, you will work in collaboration with the team to strengthen support for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled sector.
The Assistant Director’s primary role is to coordinate the utilisation of a medical benefits project.
Duties:
- Develop and implement a nationally consistent model of service delivery
- Establish a suitably qualified workforce to design and deliver the project in a range of areas
- Lead the projects’ implementation (including education and training guidelines and resources)
- Work collaboratively with the area coordinators and other key internal and external stakeholders
- Establish a Community of Practice and other networks to support the project
- Support Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and the sharing of better practices across the sector
- Day-to-day project management, including management of contracts, grants and reporting requirements
Required experience/skills:
- Tertiary qualifications in public health, health policy or other relevant qualifications OR combination of relevant training and work experience.
- The preferred candidate will have demonstrated experience as a high-performing policy or program officer within either the APS or a relevant NGO at the EL1 equivalent level.
- Effective problem-solving, analytical skills and sound judgement.
- Proactive self-starter and able to work collaboratively to achieve shared goals and ability to lead a small team.
- Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to present technical information simply and clearly, and tailor written material to different audiences.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across a range of settings, including identifying and maintaining influential relationships, and an ability to collaborate and influence at senior level
Desirable experience/skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Medicare system.
