Looking for an exciting opportunity to showcase your leadership skills to make a real difference? The Service Guidance Branch is currently seeking a talented and motivated EL1 Assistant Director to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your people leading skills and reporting and governance work experience to make a real impact in the lives of people with disabilities. 
The Service Guidance Branch is responsible for presenting Agency policy, improvements and system enhancements in clear Our Guidelines and Knowledge Articles to support the Agency's front line (National Delivery). This guidance enables front line staff to make consistent decisions and participants to have choice and control over their lives. The branch also develops content for participants and other external stakeholders to support Our Guidelines, including letters, forms, factsheets and guides to what the Agency does and does not fund.

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
  • Providing effective leadership to a small team of staff delivering Our Guidelines, letters and knowledge articles.
  • Effectively managing competing priorities and providing advice to the Agency’s executive team about overall team capacity, scope of work and progress against key deliverables.
  • Providing support to drive business improvement in access and planning processes including expert advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Raising awareness of critical issues to senior management through regular management reporting to senior NDIA management

A high attention to detail and the ability to communicate with influence with stakeholders at all levels are pivotal to be successful in this position. They will have experience supervising and mentoring a team, providing direction, delegating responsibilities, managing performance, and supporting personal development.
Working at the NDIA, it is essential you have a positive contemporary attitude to people with disability along with a high level of understanding and knowledge of disability and its impact on individuals.

While this role is ideally performed from Geelong - VIC, Richmond - VIC, Newcastle - NSW, Adelaide - SA, remote working arrangements may be considered. 
We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity however, non-ongoing roles may be offered. A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
