The Role
As the Assistant Director, under the guidance of the Director of Workforce Planning and Strategy, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing the delivery of strategies, frameworks, and programs to achieve impactful outcomes in people and culture
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team to cultivate expert capability and foster a culture of curiosity, respect, and excellence
- Providing nuanced advice and solutions for strategic workforce management challenges
- Recommending strategic directions for people and culture initiatives aligned with broader Australian Public Service (APS) programs
- Engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders to identify issues, develop solutions, and establish partnerships for initiative implementation
- Cultivating a positive risk culture by understanding and engaging with risk and recommending risk treatments as necessary
- Driving innovation and leading a team focused on continuously evaluating and enhancing work methodologies, embracing agile change management practices
- Representing the work section in relevant meetings, committees, or networks
As the ideal candidate, you will have a proven ability to understand and apply contemporary human resource and stakeholder management practices. You're likely known for your ability to facilitate collaboration, your inclusive leadership, and awareness of APS and departmental priorities.
You will have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. You will have a desire to achieve results and manage competing priorities. Your knack for identifying and implementing pragmatic and strategic improvements to people functions is essential. You will have a proven ability to understand, analyse, and resolve sensitive or complex people issues with integrity and resilience.
Overall, you'll embody professionalism and adaptability, contributing significantly to the success of Workforce Planning and Strategy initiatives.
You likely have qualifications in human resource management, psychology, business, or another relevant discipline. Additionally, holding certification such as Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) Certified HR Practitioner or equivalent industry certification would be advantageous.
Salary / Rate
- $115k - $128k + Super
- Baseline clearance preferred or the ability to obtain and maintain
