You will be working within a Government Agency highly focused around supporting everyday Australians through the provision of community services and relevant public campaigns. The Role:
As the EL1 Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of various Communication strategies and activities.
Additionally, you will manage, empower and mentor a small team of dedicated and passionate communications professionals.
This is a new opportunity to join a central communications team in one of the largest Government departments. You will be supporting programs that relate to disability, mental health, women’s health, families and children.
This is an interesting and meaningful role in a supportive team. Your role will have a variety of communication work such as assisting with the drafts of communications plans and strategies, drafting social media content and supporting content for websites.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead a small team in close consultation with your Director to support the development and implementation of communication plans and strategies
- Develop strong, trusted relationships with policy and program areas, anticipating and assessing their strategic communication needs
- Develop communication material for various audiences, which may include social media and web content, communication and stakeholder products, videos and accessible communication materials.
- Provide expert communication advice to policy and program areas to inform planning processes including branding, market research, and best-practice communication approaches
- Manage external suppliers in a complex and fast moving environment, meeting tight timeframes and delivering quality results under pressure.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and activities to guide development of future communication and engagement.
Your Skills and Experience:
We are looking for someone with a passion for improving the wellbeing of Australians, who can build strong relationships with our client areas. You will have excellent writing skills and will be comfortable developing and implementing communication plans and tactics.
Previous experience working in a strategic communications role at either the APS6 or EL1 level is required. Non APS experience will not be considered for this role.
