We are seeking applicants who want to contribute to a significant water reform program that aims to respond to the impacts of climate change, support community and industry needs, and improve access to water for First Nations people.
The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.
The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the .
The Position
As a key enabler of all business operations and priorities of the MDBA, the Chief Information Officer takes a key leadership role within the MDBA to oversee ICT (Information and Communication Technology), information management and data capability enabling MDBA staff to:
  • have access to responsive, reliable, resilient, secure, and innovative ICT and information management environments
  • have cultural awareness, management frameworks, platforms and tools to effectively manage, share and interrogate data.
This position takes primary carriage for the MDBA’s ICT and Data capability by leading the following:
  • development and implementation of robust ICT and data strategy
  • cyber security posture
  • adoption of effective information practices
  • continued innovation in data engineering and management practices.
