Address We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Director, Communications to lead our Communications team in supporting our strategic objectives in the healthcare sector. As a key member of the leadership team, you will develop and implement communications strategies to promote the Commission's work, priorities, brand, and reputation nationally.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead an integrated communications program that effectively promotes the Commission's work, priorities, and brand
Provide expert communications advice and support to the Commission Executive on complex or sensitive matters
Oversee and support activities of the Communications team, including establishing priorities and managing workflow and performance
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Commission Executive, internal teams, and external partners
Collaborate with senior leaders to identify and maximize communication opportunities and develop strategic approaches to achieve goals
Develop and implement effective communication strategies that align with the Commission's work plan and key strategic directions
Provide guidance on document writing, editing, and publication to ensure consistency and high-quality content
Requirements:
Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, digital developments or similar, or a minimum of 5 years' work experience in one or more of these disciplines
Proven experience in managing a small multidisciplinary team of communication experts
Strong negotiation, liaison, and relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to detail
Proven project management skills with ability to work flexibly to meet multiple competing deadlines
Sound knowledge and understanding of the operations of a communications team and government processes
