The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability.

Are you are seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity where you can make a positive impact? The NDIA is currently seeking an experienced EL2 Director to join the Legal Practice and Capability Branch in the Chief Counsel Division.
The Legal Practice and Capability (LP&C) Branch is an integral part of the Agency's legal function, providing essential support to both the Chief Counsel and General Counsel Divisions. The primary focus of the LP&C Branch is to enhance legal knowledge and capabilities across the Agency through various activities such as recruitment, procurement, onboarding, learning and development initiatives, strategic reporting, and project management within the divisions.
The EL2 Director Legal Practice and Capability role requires strong leadership, decision-making, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to work independently and exercise judgement in complex and sensitive situations.

The EL2 Director Legal Practice and Capability role at the NDIA is a leadership position with significant responsibilities and expectations.
The responsibilities of the role may evolve based on current priorities and organisational needs, though may include:
- Leading quality and continuous improvement initiatives and projects to improve the operations of the Chief Counsel Division and General Counsel Division.
- Leading and contributing to strategic projects and policy development processes, including drafting, and publishing internal Standard Operating Procedures including but not limited to Case Management and Dispute Resolution & Litigation teams.
- Develop initiatives and deliverables to appropriately manage work health and safety risk mitigation, Model Litigant Obligations, and business continuity.
Monitor and manage the performance of external providers and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

While this role is ideally performed from VIC Geelong, VIC Richmond, ACT Deakin, NSW Surry Hills, NSW Parramatta, QLD Brisbane, remote working arrangements may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 18 months may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
