Open Arms Veterans and Families Counselling is Australia’s leading provider of mental health assessment and counselling for Australian veterans and their families. Assistant Directors leverage specialist knowledge and experience gained from a relevant clinical background to lead multidisciplinary teams in the provision of services to Veterans and their families.The ideal candidate will have well established connections within Wodonga, and leverage their existing partnerships to support the delivery of a high quality mental health service for Australian veterans and their families.They manage the clinical governance processes of Open Arms to develop, maintain, and improve therapeutic practice and services. They support the Regional Director in implementing the business and strategic plan in the region, including identification and application of quality improvement activities, regional application of Open Arms procedures, and evaluation of regional service delivery arrangements.Duties
  • Oversee the implementation of Open Arms business initiatives, from development through successful execution, under the guidance of the Director.
  • Assist and communicate with regional leadership in prioritisation, decision-making, service delivery, and initiative implementation.
  • Review, design and execute improvement to service delivery; find knowledge and skills gaps and help address them.
  • Improve current processes and optimise organisational procedures for efficiency and productivity.
  • Serve as a liaison with staff, the regional leadership team and senior Open Arms leadership regarding organisational culture, employee wellbeing, policy implementation, and planning.
  • Develop and build on relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and responsiveness of existing operations. Help define new operational strategies by working with the Director and senior leadership on special projects.
  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert, handling inquires, developing action plans, and assisting with preparation and dissemination of communications.
  • Act as a representative of the Director as required.
  • Apply the principles of cooperative and safe work practices consistent with APS Values and the Department’s mission, vision, approach and values.
Eligibility
  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Mandatory RequirementsOne or more of the following:
  • Qualifications as a registered Psychologist / Mental Health Occupational Therapist / Mental Health Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration. OR
  • Qualification as a Social Worker eligible for membership of the Australian Association Social Workers (AASW) and eligible to apply for Mental Health accreditation.
