El2 Manager, Acute Care Standards

The National Standards Team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards, the National Safety and Quality Primary Health Care Standards, the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS) Standards and National Pathology Accreditation Scheme (NPAS) Standards. The Team is also responsible for the development and maintenance of the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation Scheme, the National General Practice Accreditation Scheme and the National Primary Health Care Accreditation Schemes. This includes ongoing support and resource development of implementation resources, support for standards users, and coordination of accreditation assessment processes and data collection and reporting.
Supporting the Director, the Manager, Acute Care Standards will lead a small team to manage the delivery of the DIAS, NPAS, and NSQHS Standards, and will have a role in the management of the other accreditation schemes and projects to support implementation.
The key duties of the position include
Duties of the EL2 Manager will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Manage, and be accountable for, the DIAS and NPAS Standards including the development of program and project plans, timelines; production of project deliverables; monitoring and reporting; and providing recommendations about managing risk, identifying problems, and proposing solutions.
2. Support the Director, National Standards to manage the NSQHS Standards work program and to coordinate the Commission's development of a multi-strategy safety and quality program for national standards, including taking day-to-day lead on the development of safety and quality standards for healthcare providers.
3. Establish and maintain networks of key stakeholders to facilitate the work of the Commission in DIAS, NPAS, and NSQHS Standards development and maintenance.
4. Manage a small team to achieve the deliverables for this program.
5. Work collaboratively with healthcare organisations and providers, national agencies, expert groups, associations and professional bodies in the development of safety and quality standards and strategies.
6. Work effectively with the National Standards teams, other Commission program areas and national expert groups and agencies on projects relating to primary, acute and community sectors.
7. Support the Commission's National Standards Program work streams, managing risks, and identifying and resolving issues.
8. Provide secretariat support and participate in the work of expert working groups or workshops convened for the development of national arrangements for diagnostic imaging and pathology healthcare initiatives and national standards projects, including the preparation of background papers, presentation and briefing papers.
9. Manage, as required, the commissioning of literature reviews, research and consultancies in support of these programs.
10. Prepare briefings and background papers on specific issues and project progress.
