A Temporary Full time position until October 2025 is now available with the Speech Therapy Team located with NBMLHD.The successful candidate will participate in the provision and leadership of quality and innovative inpatient and outpatient Speech Pathology services at Nepean Hospital and BMDAMH/Springwood Hospitals covering Adult Acute Care clinical areas.This includes service provision and advice to other clinical areas (except Paediatrics), across the district may be required from time to time as directed by the Speech Pathology Department Head, Nepean Hospital.The successful Speech Pathologist will contribute in speech pathology practice across a range of adult acute care areas but must have experience and advanced skills related to patients in Critical Care settings and related non-admitted contexts across NBMLHD. - Extensive post graduate experience in the delivery of Speech Pathology services to acute care and related caseloads including the application of evidence-based practice.
- Extensive recent post graduate clinical experience in the assessment and management of a wide range of complex swallowing and communication disorders in adult patients in acute care settings, in particular in intensive care.
- Extensive clinical experience in the management of patients with tracheostomy and the use of instrumental assessments such as VFSS and FEES.
- Demonstrated experience in leading project work and a proven ability to exercise leadership in a wide variety of contexts and stakeholder groups.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and teaching skills including highly developed skills in advocacy, negotiation and the provision of clinical supervision to Speech Pathologists and Speech Pathology students.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, build networks and function at high levels as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
