The opportunity
Our client is a large federal government agency. They are seeking an EL2 Capital Works Manager to join on a long-term contracting basis, and play a key role in the Property Services Branch to manage a variety of capital works projects.
- 12 month initial contract plus likely future extensions
- Role can be based out of Richmond or Geelong
- Daily rate range of up to $760 plus super depending on experience
The role
In this role, you will manage projects in capital works and construction, including coordination of fit-outs, maintenance and repair work, site establishment, decommissioning and relocations, as well as the management of leasing of standalone sites, and co-located arrangements. You will be required to provide leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the team membership and assigned Contractors working within the work area. You will also have significant internal stakeholder engagement. Your responsibilities will role include but are not limited to:
- Leading and managing detailed and sensitive property projects
- Managing end-to-end construction project management including, planning, design, approvals, procurement, delivery and handover
- Writing business cases, plans, executive briefs, project reports, status updates and exception reports
- Developing research and analysis, including the preparation of draft reports on project activities
- Managing the project budgets, reviewing and reporting on expenditure
- Identifying and managing program governance including the management of project risks, issues and benefits
- Establishing and managing procurement and contracts for the delivery of the programme and monitor contractor performance
- Leading and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and encourage high performance and collaborative behaviours
About you
The successful applicant will have:
- Strong project management experience of Property capital projects with complex scope
- Significant relevant experience in property and construction project leadership and management roles
- Qualification in Project Management
- Deep knowledge of Project Management and Construction management systems and principles
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
