Currently, there are around 4.3 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 600,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian. *Please note - Affirmative Measures provisions are also open for these positions. The affirmative measure positions are to improve employment opportunities for people with a disability and Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in the Australian Public Service. A new role awaits
We have two incredible opportunities for highly skilled executives to join our branches within Specialised Service Delivery Division as a Service Delivery Director. The division includes the Complex Support Needs, National Early Childhood, Aged Care and Hospital Interface and Scheme Eligibility Branches. The EL2 Director Service Delivery is a crucial team leadership position and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities of substantial depth involving significant detail.

You as the Executive Director will work with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism, with a focus on providing detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support, and advice in relation to complex problems. Not every day will be the same and being adaptable is the key to success within this role. Main elements of this role include:
Leading and supporting Planners within the Complex Support Needs or Hospital Interface areas to consider solutions to drive participant outcomes, consistent quality reasonable and necessary decisions and effectively manage complex situations associated with approval of funding within the NDIS Act and Rules.
Liaising with the wider sector through portfolio management (including other government and community services) regarding individual participants and wider disability related issues.
Demonstrating strong understanding of the disability sector including approaches that underpin progressive and contemporary disability service provision (e.g. community connection, inclusion, positive behaviour support etc.).
In the Hospital Interface role, you will be investigating the barriers and enablers to effective and timely hospital discharge practices for NDIS participants.
In the Complex Support Needs role, you will be engaging with Participants and their families to review NDIS Plans and support them with a case monitoring function, to utilise and implement their funded supports.

Allied Health experience (highly desirable).

While these roles can be performed from Deakin, Sydney, Darwin, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Geelong, or Perth, other remote working locations may be considered. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
