You will complete a a Certificate III in Electrotechnology - Electrician qualification over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience through Zeal Futures and Host Employer, Whitehaven Coal, located in Narrabri. Whitehaven Coal is one of Australia's leading independent coal producers operating in the Gunnedah Coal Basin (NSW).
Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on mining equipment.
- Work on site, primarily in an underground environment.
- Utilize a range of hand tools, battery-operated tools, and specialist equipment.
- Conduct fault-finding and diagnostics on mining equipment.
- Assist in the installation of electrical systems on mining equipment.
- Participate in routine servicing tasks.
To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong cognitive aptitude for problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Commitment to the full term of the apprenticeship and study requirements.
- Strong understanding of safety and safe work practices
- Demonstrated interest and passion for the Electrical trade.
- You must possess a P1 or above driver's license or be close to obtaining one.
- Local resident of the North West Slopes Region.
