Role outline:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical & Control System Engineer to join our client’s manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of their production area, taking a lead in troubleshooting electrical equipment issues on site, as well as driving safety and productivity improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Troubleshooting efforts on PLCs from both a Hardware and Software perspective, particularly on Allen-Bradley PLCs, utilising Studio 5000 software.
- Work with operational and maintenance teams to plan and execute minor and major machine shutdowns. This includes providing planning assistance, ensuring execution adherence to plan, and analysing shutdown results.
- Coordinate and drive Condition Based Monitoring of the equipment on-site in order to drive reliability improvements.
- Work with the broader engineering team to manage projects from inception to completion, including capital justification, procurement, scheduling, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), implementation, commissioning, testing, and handover to production.
- Identify opportunities for process and reliability improvements and cost-saving measures related to Electrical Control Systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
- High levels of proficiency in fault finding Allen-Bradley drives through packages such as Studio 5000 and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and PLCs. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in this field practically.
- Solid project engineering skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with Electromechanical equipment in a Manufacturing setting to improve design and reliability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly in a close-knit team environment and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in a local manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
This is a full-time position, offering competitive compensation and benefits package. The role works on a morning shift and will have some on-call cover duties on a rotational basis, and hence would only suit an individual who is able to work in such a pattern.
