The Role
Due to our healthy pipeline of projects, we are looking to hire an experienced primary substation Electrical Engineer to complement our highly skilled design and engineering team at our Burswood office, close to the Perth CBD.
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Apply content and application of AS2067 and associated Australian and International standards to produce design of high voltage substations and other related infrastructure with voltages from 33kV to 500kV for brownfield and greenfield Gas and Air Insulated Substations (GIS, AIS);
• Development of concept and detailed design drawings, technical specifications, scopes of works, instructions, and other documents to the required standards for projects;
• Develop or review technical requirements on each detailed design project including project constraints and deliverables, seeking clarification where required and ensuring that Primary requirements are coordinated with other disciplines i.e. secondary, civil/structural etc;
• Conduct vendor drawing reviews;
• Conduct internal review and quality checks of engineering drawings and design calculations to compliance with the standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate in design review and safety workshops;
• Provide design related project delivery support including construction and commissioning support;
• Demonstrate design innovation and cost optimization as part of the design process.
Your Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience. (Electrical Engineer)
• Demonstrated experience in utilities, construction and / or resources industry.
• Skills to work independently.
• Effective and accurate record keeping / documentation relating to their own design work.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (e.g. Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
• Understanding of technical design standards and demonstrate experience in design and delivery of large-scale substation projects.
• CAD Software proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation etc.
Candidates must be able to bring a flexible mindset, challenge traditional thinking and be prepared to work outside of their comfort zone.
