Primary Electrical Design Engineer - Renewable Energy

Position Overview: We are seeking a talented Primary Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in renewable energy, particularly focused on hydrogen production and electrolysis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimising electrical systems for our cutting-edge projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Electrical Design and engineering efforts for renewable energy projects, with a primary focus on hydrogen production and electrolysis systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that maximise efficiency and reliability.
- Perform detailed Electrical Design calculations, simulations, and analyses to ensure optimal system performance.
- Utilise industry-standard software tools such as PSSE, PSCAD, and Scatter for modelling, simulation, and analysis.
- Generate technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for electrical systems and components.
- Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments to evaluate project viability and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to renewable energy and hydrogen production.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical/ Mechanisation Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-3 years of experience in an electrical, maintenance, or reliability engineering role.
- Knowledge of electrical ELV, LV, and HV distribution systems and drive systems.
- Familiarity with electrical protection systems for mobile equipment.
- Experience in high voltage drive, propulsion, and/or onboard distribution systems.
- Mining and heavy mobile equipment and/or autonomous fleet experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in facilitating Defect Elimination (DE), Continuous Improvement (CI), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) processes.
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus.
- Knowledge of computer management systems (SAP, MS Office, etc.).
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
