FIP Electrical Pty Ltd is a well-established Electrical/Engineering Contracting Company with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart. Catering to a wide range of electrical services on the eastern seaboard of Australia and are continually growing and expanding.
We are seeking an Electrical Estimator with a solid background in the Commercial, Service and Maintenance Electrical Industry for our Sydney Service department office at 38 Tennyson Road, Mortlake. You will have the responsibility for reviewing and analysing electrical tenders, specifications, drawings and relevant information for the accurate cost estimate and sale submissions of tenders. Projects are varied from commercial, industrial including retail and hospitals, which are just a few of the areas we cover with price ranging from $1,000.00 to $20 million. The candidate must thrive in a positive and challenging working environment, must be self-motivated and able to operate autonomously. The candidate is to contribute to progressive improvement of the company and will become part of the senior management team & integral to our business.
Duties & responsibilities:
- Understanding the project thoroughly and knowing its requirements well
- Interpreting technical drawings and gathering data for estimates
- Using software for analysis, forecasting and budgeting
- Evaluating subcontractors and suppliers offers, managing risks and building relationships
- Implementing Company Quality System Tendering procedures
- Preparing accurate reports and bids for clients and projects
- Preparing electrical estimates and site visits as required
- Implementing and identifying cost saving initiatives in a proactive manner
- Ensuring compliance with laws, standards, and safety
- Assisting project managers and other team members when needed
The right person must have:
- Minimum of 2 years relevant Australian experience having worked in a similar role
- Must have electrical trade qualifications or electrical engineering background
- Exposure to estimating software such as ConEst
- Familiarity with SimPRO is advantageous but not essential
- Proficient problem-solving and innovative solution delivery for customers
- Effectively manage stakeholders at all levels, contributing to business development
- Collaborate seamlessly within a high-performing team
- Familiar with financial and project management principles
- In-depth knowledge of research, data analysis methods and estimation formulas
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Display thoroughness, reliability, and strong organisational skills
- Exhibit initiative and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment
- Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong attention to detail with a 'can-do' attitude and a desire to learn and progress
- Possess a current driver's licence and the ability to drive to site
