It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.About the roleYou will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by ensuring exceptional electrical safety practices through a variety of projects.Summary of duties and skills involved:
- Provide technical advice, services and consultancy to electrical workers, external clients and authorities.
- Supervise the delivery of electrical construction, maintenance and upgrade work undertaken by QBuild, including assisting in the planning and delivery of projects through the efficient management of budgets, supervision and development of office staff, field staff and subcontractors and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and legislation.
- Produce high quality tender and quotation documentation for electrical projects and prepare accurate and timely estimates, quotations and project trade packages; including material lists and construction programs.
- Provide technical support and supervision to the region for small air-conditioning/refrigeration system installations.
- Ensure a healthy and safe work environment is maintained on worksites, ensuring compliance with the QBuild electrical safety management system, electrical safety legislation and current human resource practices and principles.
- Accurately price and provide estimates for minor electrical repairs, upgrades, and additions.
- Coordinate the supervision and completion of competencies for electrical apprentices.
- Electrical trade qualification Cert 3.
- Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence Mechanic or Fitter/Mechanic.
- Demonstrate experience in domestic and commercial electrical installations to a high level of compliance and workmanship.
- Willing to complete the QTP electrical training.
- Current Workplace Health & Safety General Safety Induction Card.
- Current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and low voltage rescue certificate.
- Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent.
- Travel is an integral activity for this role and will require overnight stays of up to 4 nights (or as negotiated). As the majority of this will be road travel, you will need to possess a current Driver's License. However there will also be occasions where you will be required to travel by (light) aircraft.
