About the team
This role is part of Fleet Maintenance Division in the Engineering & Maintenance Branch. The Fleet Maintenance delivers safe, reliable and commercially competitive fleet maintenance services for Sydney Trains and NSW Trains customers. We focus on continuous improvement in fleet reliability as well as operational readiness for the demands of the future.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a permanent full-time role available for an Electrical System Engineer to join our Fleet Maintenance Division.
There will never be dull moment here, as you will be constantly engaging in delivering projects elements. You will be working closely with the Maintenance Depots and Engineering & System Integrity Division to prepare, update and issue various technical documentations associated with train operations and electrical systems performance and maintenance.
The role is based at our Clyde Hub in Auburn, with a flexible work arrangement
What you’ll be involved in:
Develop and implement reliability programs, coordinate special investigations, surveys and performance testing, analyse problems and make recommendations on modifications or redesign to improve the safety, reliability, operation and cost effectiveness of Sydney and NSW Trains passenger Rolling Stock.
Assisting in the development, review and recommendations of Technical Maintenance Plans (TMPs).
Liaise with other standards groups including Track and Structures, Electrical and Signals, to ensure consistent application and compliance to standards throughout Sydney and NSW Trains.
Provide expert technical input on Rolling Stock electrical systems at incident or accident enquires to ensure that informed decisions are based on sound technical information.
Undertake testing of passenger rolling stock electrical equipment to ensure compliance with Engineering technical specifications and standards for ongoing safe and reliable operation.

About you
You will have an Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechatronic and eligibility for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia. A demonstrated understanding of the systems associated with the passenger rail industry, rail operations and maintenance support infrastructure will be highly regarded, although not essential.
You are self-driven, have excellent written and oral communication skills and can prioritise competing business demands, with a range of stakeholders at different levels in the organisation. You can be expected to work both autonomously as well as collaboratively across most disciplines within the team
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is RC5 (5A $109,352 – 4E $126,135) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
