Role outline:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shift Electrical & Control System Engineer to join our client’s manufacturing operation. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of their production area and drive improvement projects, with a focus on safety compliance, project management, engineering design, reliability analysis, continuous improvement, and troubleshooting of Control Systems and equipment. The role will work on a highly favourable shift pattern, allowing for an excellent work life balance for those set up to commit to the pattern.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and fault find various equipment issues onsite to minimize machine downtime utilising an RCA or similar approach.
- Work with operational and maintenance teams to plan and execute minor and major machine shutdowns. This includes providing planning assistance, ensuring execution adherence to plan, and analysing shutdown results.
- Coordinate and drive Condition Based Monitoring of the equipment on site in order to drive reliability improvements.
- Work with the broader engineering team to manage projects from inception to completion, including capital justification, procurement, scheduling, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), implementation, commissioning, testing, and handover to production.
- Identify opportunities for process and reliability improvements and cost-saving measures related to electrical Control Systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- High levels of proficiency in fault finding Allen-Bradley drives through packages such as Studio 5000 and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), and PLCs.
- Understanding in the use of serial and ethernet communication protocols.
- Solid project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with mechanical engineering design, reliability analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach to troubleshooting.
- Ability to work effectively in a close knit team environment and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in a local manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
