Emergency Department Communications Clerk

The Role:

• Provide effective and efficient communication, administrative and clerical support to both medical and nursing staff within the patient contact area of the Emergency Department.

The Team:

• The ED at the North West Regional Hospital consists of 17 acute clinical spaces with an additional 6 fast track spaces and a 4 bedded EMU. The department has 2 fully equipped Resus bays, a purpose-built mental health assessment area, a negative pressure isolation room as well as 4 negative flow single rooms. The ED is the referral hospital for the North West of Tasmania.

  The Emergency Department has an annual attendance rate of approx. 29,000 patients per year. Approximately 30% of these patients are admitted for further treatment and care. The Department treats a broad range of patients including major trauma cases. The ED is supported by a wide range of specialties and generally only refers a small number of patients out of the region.

  The ED is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine for six months advanced training in Emergency Medicine. The ED offers its nursing staff a comprehensive education programme for all levels of emergency nurses supported by a specialised education team.

Details of Appointment

Permanent part time shift-worker position working 12 hours per fortnight commencing from March 2024

Salary: $71,661 - $77,455 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

• Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

4. crimes involving dishonesty
