This opportunity allows individuals to acquire emergency management skills and work towards the top of their scope of practice, providing the chance to learn from a wide variety of emergency presentations in a supervised environment
What does the job entail?
An Emergency Nurse Practitioner Candidate is a registered nurse who has acquired an expert knowledge base, complex decision-making skills, and clinical competencies to prepare for expanded practice. The Nurse Practitioner Candidate is an integral member of the healthcare team, working towards an increased level of professional autonomy in collaboration with other health professionals. Their role involves assessing and managing clients within their clinical context using nursing knowledge and skills.
The Nurse Practitioner Candidate engages in clinical education, mentorship, and professional activities to facilitate the development of extensions to practice. This includes the prescription of medications and, at least one of the following: ordering diagnostic investigations, making direct referrals to other healthcare professionals, the ability to admit and discharge patients, and/or provision of absence from work certificates. All of these activities are performed within the limitations of their registration as a Registered Nurse.
