We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Emissions Reduction Lead to join our Sustainability and Corporate Affairs team in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney on a permanent basis. 

Reporting to the Group Emissions Manager, you will be leading the APA Group Methane Action Plan, provide Emissions Reduction subject matter expertise across APA business units (gas infrastructure) and support methane measurement and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical subject matter expertise on Emissions Reduction matters in particular methane reduction, compressor efficiency and electrification collaborating primarily with Operations, Infrastructure Development and Networks
• Manage APA’s 100% renewable electricity commitment, working with procurement, to acquire and surrender large-scale generations certificates or equivalent
• Support the Group Emissions Manager to manage and monitor the Emissions Reduction project / initiative process from idea generation through to implementation. Coordinate with the Net Zero & Climate Lead to reflect changes within the Net Zero dashboard
• Ongoing research, benchmarking and technology readiness assessment of best practice emission reduction technologies in collaboration primarily with Operations, Infrastructure Development and Networks. Preparing research reports and updates to support business leadership and management stay across emerging emission reduction issues and trends
• Support the Group Emissions Manager with ongoing management and evolution of the Emissions Reduction Roadmap to support efficient delivery of portfolio emission reductions in line with the Climate Transition Plan
• Support preparation of quarterly emissions management reports for APA’s Net Zero governance forums.

About You

• Tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in related discipline such as engineering, environmental, or climate science
• Experience in emission reduction related roles
• Strong understanding of Emissions Reduction technologies specific to energy infrastructure in particular methane emissions
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of methane frameworks, such as OGMP 2.0, is highly desired
• Sound understanding of the climate change policy landscape impacting Emissions Reduction
• Proven collaboration and influencing skills with both diverse internal and external stakeholders
