About the role:
The Employee Relations Advisor will support the business drive legislative requirements under Fair Work (closing the Loop Act 2023) and Respect@Work. Reporting to the HRM, following the growth of HBT Australia, this role is responsible for the policy development and implementation of workplace practices and education across NSW and QLD legislation.

The Employee Relations Advisor’s key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development, review, consultation and education of workplace policies & procedures related to new legislative requirements.
- Ensuring that all Employee Relations practices and processes are compliant with relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conducting periodic audits and reviews of HR policies and procedures to identify areas for improvement, ensuring consistency and fairness in the application.
- Compliance reporting including annual Workplace Gender Equality Agency reports, workplace grievances, turnover and headcount.
- Leading initiatives to drive employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention through training and development and employee engagement.
- Facilitating training sessions and workshops to embed policies and awareness.
- Conducting thorough investigations into employee concerns, ensuring impartiality, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and legal regulations.
- Undertaking workplace investigations, including preparing documentation, reports and outcome letters.
- Assisting the Workplace Health and Safety team in ensuring safety and wellbeing initiatives are supported.
- Maintaining accurate record-keeping for interactions and case management activities.
- Providing coaching and guidance to employees and managers on conflict resolution techniques, communication skills, and effective problem-solving strategies.
- Monitoring trends and patterns in Employee Relations issues, identifying root causes and recommending proactive measures to address underlying issues and prevent future conflicts.
- Assisting HR team and managers in handling performance-related issues.
- Providing guidance and support to managers in conducting fair and constructive performance discussions, feedback sessions, and goal-setting discussions.
- Supporting HR initiative’s including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement and performance development.
About you:
Qualifications / Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, Law, Industrial Relations and/or related work experience.
- 3 or more years in a similar position.
Essential Criteria:
- Strong understanding of Fair Work Legislation across NSW and QLD.
- Strong understanding of employment law, employment contracts and the employee lifecycle and drivers of engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- High attention to detail and ability to write workplace policies and reports.
- Proven experience in enhancing human resource processes and practices.
- Ability to travel interstate when required.
