About the role:
  
We are seeking a paralegal to join our Employment Team in our Melbourne office, working a minimum of 4 days per week. The role is office based and would suit a candidate with at least 2 years left on their law degree. You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking research based tasks and report findings and research
  • Producing legal work with a commercial view and pragmatic approach
  • Having a good understanding of the law in the practice group you are working in
  • Keeping up to date with changes in the law and relevant business context
  • Completing all allocated work diligently and within the specified timeframe
  • Answering all phone calls promptly, take accurate messages and pass messages on to the relevant person immediately
  • Managing authors' calendars ensuring they are attending meetings and appointments and update our CRM software, InterAction, where appropriate including helping ensure they are prepared for attendance at those meetings
  • Ensuring electronic and physical filing is undertaken on a daily basis for all authors
  • Opening and closing matters within 24 hours of receiving instructions ensuring you adhere to CBP's relevant policy and including where necessary creating the physical file
  • Recording time promptly, accurately in Elite 3E for yourself and any authors in the team
  • Billing (Software Elite 3E)
  • Where required uploading bills to third party electronic billing systems and perform bill status enquiries in these systems
  • Performing matter enquiries and be able to update authors on fee and disbursement WIP and invoice paid statuses
  • Preparing cost agreements for all new matters where required and file digitally within Elite 3E; preparing updated costs agreements on a yearly basis for continuing clients
  • Contributing to practice group publications and articles

  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft products and iManage (document management system)
