Your team
The Distributed Energy Storage team are responsible for the product/commercial development and delivery of community batteries within the Ausgrid network, working closely with local stakeholders (customers, local governments & community groups), engaging partners (energy retailers, aggregators, OEM suppliers, AEMO/AER, etc.) as well as alongside the broader Ausgrid Group (network pricing, regulation and strategy).

Committed to delivering reliable, sustainable, and innovative energy solutions to our customers, we are seeking a highly skilled Energy Storage Product Manager to play a crucial part in Ausgrid's efforts to innovate in the energy sector; strengthening our relationships with partners and driving strategic initiatives aligned with our objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Distributed Services in a dynamic and forward-thinking organization by developing, refining and promoting Energy Storage as a Service (ESaaS) products.
You will Lead the collaborative development of cutting-edge customer storage solutions, such as 'community batteries' or 'storage as a service', in conjunction with strategic partners, enabling direct comparison with individual household batteries (product management).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing and overseeing the implementation of trial tariffs, ensuring seamless execution and accurate billing through effective team coordination
- Conduct in-depth analysis of customer usage and billing data to forecast the impacts of various Storage Product options
- Facilitate the creation of a user-centric virtual power plant platform, prioritizing user experience and behavior
- Conduct comprehensive comparative market research on storage solutions and related technologies, both domestically and internationally
- Cultivate and manage strong internal and external stakeholder relationships through clear and effective communication, ensuring successful service delivery and achievement of desired outcomes and benefits across all levels of engagement
- Provide supervision over data handling processes to maintain quality and accuracy, while also mentoring staff in system maintenance
- Deliver consistent and timely presentations of analytical findings to executive management
- Produce clear and impactful reports and visualizations, tailoring content to the audience for optimal comprehension
- Draft and review various documents (e.g., reports, letters, press releases, presentations) for stakeholder engagement, external applications, and other purposes
- Act as a representative and advocate for Ausgrid's storage solutions at events, contributing to sales promotion efforts and bolstering public relations.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining consistent standards and practices for reporting and knowledge sharing

To be successful, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, or a related discipline
- Proven knowledge and experience in the energy sector, including broad experience across:
- Energy retail - B2B and B2C
- NEM design, metering and market settlement procedures
- Policy & regulation related to tariff design & battery storage projects
- Virtual Power Plants, Demand Response or innovative customer solutions
- Agile product development in a complex environment (Energy, Finance or similar)
- Expertise in crafting solutions tailored to both B2B and B2C sectors, with a strong focus on meeting customer needs
- Established interpersonal skills and experience in sales, negotiation, influencing, and building rapport with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Highly evident communications skills both written and oral with a focus for articulating value propositions
- Sound project management, governance, and time management skills
- Presentation and written and communication skills, able to produce reports, submissions, and PowerPoint presentations
- Proven analytical skills and ability to manage and analyse datasets with a high attention to detail and ability to reconcile outcomes and inputs
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment to produce high quality output often under short time constraint
