About the role

Reporting to Senior Open Pit Mine Engineer - Integrated Planning the purpose of this position is to be responsible for creating and updating long-term mine plans. We have a current opportunity for a Engineer - Mine Planning reporting to Senior Open Pit Mine Engineer - Integrated Planning, in our high-performing team. The position is responsible for the effective, safe, and strategic planning of our open pit operations, including consideration of areas common to both underground and open pit ore sources to support the site business plan and long-term strategy. Focus is on medium-term and long-term mine plans and designs, along with related data management, data analysis and modelling that will be used to optimize the value of mineral resources.

This is a highly visible position within the organisation and will provide the incumbent with exposure to strategic & tactical mine planning for site, supporting the Integrated Planning team in the annual business planning cycle, including Life of Mine Planning and Budget Planning, medium term planning and forecasting and supporting the preparation of annual Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve Statements.

Key responsibilities and duties

• Building effective relationships with stakeholders for safe and practical design and mine schedule delivery
• Preparing medium-term rolling forecasts, life of mine, and annual budgets
• Analysing mine performance and identify causal factors for variance against planned data
• Conducting Pit Optimization, Pit Design, and Mine Design tasks
• Assisting competent person in computing and modelling for reserve/resource estimation
• Coordinating with Short Term Planning and Technical Services departments for alignment with operational planning
• Collaborate with Operations, Geology, Metallurgy, Geotechnical, and Mining Engineering teams for safe and practical design and mine plan execution

About you

The ideal candidate should be an experienced Mining Engineer, skilled in working with people, relating, and networking along with having an ability to persuade and influence whilst adhering to our principles and values.

It is expected you will have relevant industry experience in an open pit environment supported with a Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering. You must be able to adhere to high work standards, and to work effectively with others. It is essential you possess strong analytical and communication skills, along with attention to detail as this role will require you to be organized, efficient, proactive, adaptable, and responsive to change in a dynamic work environment.

To be considered you will demonstrate/ possess:

• Tertiary certificate in Mine Engineering or related discipline.
• Practical experience in Mine Planning, including Life of Mine and forecasting.
• Demonstrated experience in mine design, scheduling, cost evaluation, and optimization.
• Strong working understanding of safety systems and Open Pit production mining methods.
• Competency with Deswik, experience or knowledge of Alastri Tactical Scheduler and GEOVIA Whittle 3D (preferred but not required)
• Proficiency in technical report writing, problem-solving, and presenting and communicating information.
