Key Purpose of Role:

  1. The key purpose of the role is to manage and maintain a large manufacturing facility. 
  2. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders to coordinate and execute all external maintenance activities (and any associated requirements), manage the internal preventative maintenance system, and coordinate the daily activities of the internal maintenance staff.
  3. The role has a dependency on Industrial Engineering, including but not limited to, cycle time calculations, plant layout design and in-process developments to ensure the manufacturing facility is operating to its maximum potential.
  4. To avoid downtime and improve production output, the Facilities & Industrial Engineer must be able to work independently, make necessary judgements within scope of role, and have strong drive to continually evaluate, enhance, and streamline new and existing manufacturing processes.

Areas of Responsibility:

  1. Coordination and onsite management for facilities related external contractors including contacting relevant contractors, gaining quotations and management of invoices.
  2. Completing and maintaining induction records for external contractors and ensure all contractors on site have completed and submitted relevant risk assessments and/or safe work documents.
  3. Laise with building owner to facilitate inspections, building upgrades and/or any other maintenance works required.
  4. Ensure team members meet deadlines and support their development, training and motivation.
  5. Providing clear direction, guidance, and support to team members.
  6. Design, draw and coordinate the manufacturing of small jigs and fixtures required for use by the facility with both internal and external suppliers.
  7. Ownership of the preventative maintenance schedule to ensure minimal production downtime including occasional outside of normal business hours support.
  8. Maintaining and developing new plant layout, assembly line, and other facility related drawings (AutoCAD).
  9. Review of new product and part drawings to assess suitability inside the production environment.
  10. Facilitation of NPI related activities into the manufacturing facility.
  11. Maintain and update site related drawings including traffic management, evacuation diagrams, and other engineering related documents.
  12. Maintain appropriate communications as the single point of contact for external contractors into the manufacturing facility.

Workplace health & safety

  1. Ensure all inducted persons on site are using the correct and safe equipment, have provided the correct safe work documentation, and are abiding by all site rules.
  2. Maintain awareness of identified and potential health and safety, quality and environmental aspects within scope and their impacts including the reporting of any health and safety and environmental accidents/ incidents/ near misses or hazards.

Documentation

  1. Maintain existing and create new site facilities related documentation.
  2. Introduce documentation to support the introduction of new processes and manufacturing layouts.

Key Metrics

  1. On time delivery of projects and within budget.
  2. Implementation of Engineering Change Requests relating to manufacturing site changes.
  3. Minimal downtime for maintenance related activities.
  4. Efficient resolution of issues related system failures, products, and equipment.

Professional Experience (years)

  1. Minimum 5 Years relevant experience working in a facilities-based role inside a manufacturing environment.
  2. Experience in CAD (AutoCad preferred).
  3. Experience with management & control tools Jira & TFS.
  4. Ability to work in a team and/or individually.
  5. Good written and oral communication skills.

Qualifications and Additional Requirements

  1. Degree Qualified Engineer or other applicable degree.
  2. Previous facilities management.
  3. Prior manufacturing facility experience highly desirable.
  4. Computer skills including proficiency in Excel, Word and other MS Office applications. Knowledge of software IDE is desirable.
