This is an innovative project that involves the world-first conversion of a disused gold mine into a pumped storage hydroelectric power generation facility in far-north Queensland (270km NW of Townsville).The project will see the conversion of two existing mine pits into reservoirs, involving the construction of significant underground infrastructure including a large powerhouse cavern and waterway shafts and tunnels to allow the transfer of water between upper and lower reservoirs to generate power during peak periods and return water back to the upper reservoir during off peak periods.The OpportunityWe are currently sourcing a Mechanical Projec Engineer to join the construction delivery team,this role will be responsible for the following:
- Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, which may include Project Engineers, and/or Cost/Planning Engineers
- Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
- Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary.
- Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme work loads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
- Ensure that Project Engineering completion is on time and within budget.
- Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in delivering projects from beginning to completion
- Experience in delivering complex infrastructure, including mechanical piping, SMP
- Excellent verbal and written communication
