This role is responsible for leading the team that creates and design new features, maintaining existing features and working with product & platform team to develop innovative solutions that meets Pay's growing consumer and merchant needs. The role also supports product teams to build feature roadmap and associated technology roadmap that includes making our platforms future ready and remediate any technical debt that have been incurred in prior release cycles.
In this role, you'll:
- Collaborate with technical leaders to set out a vision and platform standards for our mobile engineering team
- Lead all platforms application design, development and release activities including supporting testing team to use new strategies/techniques to test changes
- Lead a group of high performing engineers, mentor, promote best practises in the team and maintain high level of code quality
- Enable a high-performance engineering culture, which attracts and retains top talent, advocate internally and externally the technology vision, opportunities and culture.
- Define, guide and expand capability of associated platforms and engineering team delivering highly scalable, secured and reusable applications/services
- Collaborate with platform squad members i.e. product owners, UI/UX designers, API engineers and testers to define, design, develop and deliver new features and an awesome user experience.
- Establish and nurture conceptual feedback channels with visual design and backend teams
- Assist prioritising feature development along with product team
- Identify performance bottlenecks, optimise and instrument mobile development practises to continue to improve application performance and security
- Ensure optimum value is extracted from all investments, measure, report on insights, influence appropriate change.
Ideally, we're looking for someone:
- Deep experience driving technology change and improvement always considering customer and employee impact as well as compliance to legislation and regulations.
- Experience leading agile development teams to deliver continuous delivery of features prioritised for platforms owned.
- Strong technical expertise in frontend (React.js) & backend technologies (Golang), cloud infrastructure services (AWS) and various SaaS/payment platforms e.g. eCommerce platforms/plugins, Identity Management solutions etc.
- Comfortable diving into code and possessing a deep understanding of how technology solutions are implemented.
- Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to influence senior stakeholders and gain agreement on direction of investment into Pay's architecture.
- Experience adding value to multiple initiatives and changing priorities in a very dynamic environment and quickly assess and address the viability/ impact of new or emerging technologies.
- Broad knowledge of multiple modern technologies, applications, and architecture (cloud and non-cloud)
- Advocate of contemporary engineering practices and culture including DevOps, automation, interoperability, agile, design thinking, and user experience practices.
- Driven by providing progressive, innovative solutions that lead the industry.
- Excellent conflict resolution skills, enabling key issues to be resolved effectively.
- Leader of people and growth mindsets whilst always being a thought leader and keeping up with the latest trends and news
- Minimum 3+ years of people leadership experience is a MUST.
