The Role

Based in our Brisbane office we are currently seeking a talented Engineering Leader to join our team. This role will work closely together with our Engineering team, to ensure efficient and effective delivery of engineering projects. Key to success will be your ability to seamlessly coordinate activities between engineering disciplines, teams and external stakeholders. This role will closely support our Chief Technical Officer and Lead Engineers by implementing and improving engineering processes, resource planning, managing design schedules, deliverables and interfacing with the program management.

We are looking for a dynamic leader who values openness, transparency, and has strong relationship building skills, vital in coordinating a team of exceptional engineers to complete challenging engineering projects.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate engineering activities across disciplines and teams to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Implement, monitor and improve engineering process and toolsets for all disciplines.
  • Lead the planning of design reviews in accordance with company plans and processes.
  • Be an exemplar of the Company values.
  • Contribute to and manage Engineering management plans, Configuration Management plans, engineering tools & processes, review & approval processes. Support job hazard analysis for assembly/testing, QA plans and processes (e.g., FRACAS, FRB/MRB, NCR).
  • Conduct planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects including for flight vehicle design, assembly & testing.
  • Plan and execute engineering design reviews.
  • Develop engineering skills plan to identify required skills, gaps, plan to address gaps.
  • Assist with recruitment of necessary engineering staff.
  • Contribute to improve company processes and business systems that support project decision makers.

To be successful in this role you will also need:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or STEM discipline.
  • Demonstrated prior experience (circa 5+ years) in a team lead, engineering management or coordination role at a fast-paced, complex organisation.
  • Experience coordinating a medium to large sized multi-disciplinary team with scope, schedule, and deliverables focus.
  • Experience with data analysis and data-based decision making.
  • Commercial and financial literacy.
  • Strong leadership skills with a supportive, hands-on style.
  • Demonstrated agility in decision-making.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to prioritise.
  • Resilience in dealing with challenges and ability to drive results in a complex environment.
  • Logical approach to complex technical issues and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Jira, MS Project (or equivalent).

Desirable requirements

  • Experience with inventory, production, and capacity planning (including MRP/ERP systems).
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (Aerospace, Defence, Transport, etc).
  • RPEQ (or willingness and eligibility to attain).
  • Experience with hypersonic technology.
  • Experience with aircraft design.
  • Experience with design for production.

Supplementary requirements

  • Driver's license.
  • Background checks, including Australian National Police clearance check.
