About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in chemical engineering, with experience in the design and development of chemical plants.

As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of our projects, from conceptual design and assistance with our R&D team, through to detailed engineering design, commissioning, and operation as Novalith scale rapidly in the Lithium Processing industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage & mentor a growing multi-disciplinary Engineering team, ensuring members are meeting operational & performance objectives while developing team members to ensure they have relevant skills & qualifications.

• Oversee engineering management, including budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with quality standards.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, projects, operations, and maintenance, to ensure projects meet business and technical requirements.

• Lead the review of the existing engineering practices to understand where, when and how we can continuously improve Novalith’s design process.

• Managing people and processes to ensure compliance with relevant SHEQ standards and ISO processes.

• Help build and manage systems & procedures for the business to scale and deliver globally significant engineering battery chemical projects.

• Provide insight and direction into design efforts, including equipment selection, material & energy balances, and other process deliverables expected in detailed engineering design of chemical plants.

• Drive innovation in plant design and processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance safety.

• Provide review of deliverables and have a strong understanding on chemical plants and processes.

• Contribute to the preparation of design schedules and the implementation of effective document control as directed.

• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and environmental standards.

• Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

• Provide technical expertise and strategic insights to senior management for decision-making.

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) - preferably a chartered Chemical Engineer.

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in chemical engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within plant design.

• Proven track record of successfully managing design of large-scale engineering projects (i.e. EPC or Design & Build).

• Deep commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment.

• Strong understanding of chemical process engineering and plant operations.

• Experience in chemicals, refining, mining, and extractive metallurgy is preferred.
