Position Responsibilities:
The Engineering Operations Manager’s responsibilities include:
- Provides leadership in technical expertise, knowledge and resources in mechanical, chemical / process, carbon and combustion engineering within the company
- Project management, delivery, logistics and resource allocation for all projects.
- Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel.
- Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.
- Leads the engineering team in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
- Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
- Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
- Assures that processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines.
- Collaborates with other team leaders
- Forges and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications/Skills:
This position and role requires the following experience, qualifications and skills:
- Project management skills, financial management, including project budgets and cost controls
- Strategic thinking, leadership, teambuilding, and mentoring skills
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexible thinking, including the ability to pivot and try new approaches when faced with challenges
- Organizational, planning, and documentation skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
Desirable experience and technical ability in one or more of the following areas:
- Combustion, Gasification or Pyrolysis engineering
- Heavy industry, fabrication, production operations and process engineering experience
- High temperature thermal processes such as minerals processing
- Biomass materials handling
Education and Experience:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) in mechanical, chemical, process, combustion engineering or a related field
- 15+ years relevant work experience
- 3-4 years management experience
- Postgraduate qualifications in engineering, project management or MBA will be considered favourably
