Monash Health’s Engineering & Infrastructure Department employs over 50 people across all major Monash Health sites. The Engineering & Infrastructure team ensure our buildings and infrastructure assets are maintained to the high standard required of critical health services.
The Victorian Heart Hospital is Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital providing innovative, holistic patient-centred care for all Victorians. The first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and a standalone hospital, housing all on one campus, world-ranking Monash University and the Victorian Heart Institute, it combines world-class clinical care, research, education and training, representing a powerful model of collaboration, innovation and excellence. Engineering Manager, Victorian Heart Hospital
The Engineering Manager strategically manages Monash Health’s engineering assets and infrastructure to meet the relevant statutory regulations, codes, guidelines, policies & procedures and Australian Standards; delivering key leadership and direction for in-house trade teams and external providers.
As we celebrate the first year of operation, our people are at the heart of what we do at the Victorian Heart Hospital and now hiring an Engineering Manager as an integral part of our Engineering & Infrastructure team, to work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders at our world class, state of the art Heart Hospital as we continue to elevate the standard of cardiac to our patients and community. Key responsibilities of the this role include:
- Provide leadership and direction to effectively manage in-house trade teams and external service providers and ensure KPI’s are met.
- Oversee and manage the building & infrastructure services of acute health service, research and teaching facility
- Regulatory and statutory obligations and OHS compliance
- Strategic planning for infrastructure upgrades, critical assets replacement, and asset management plans.
- Lead and drive complex works projects.
- Financial accountability
- Sustainability initiatives & Energy management

About You

To ensure your success in this role, you will have following demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in electrical or mechanical trade.
- Eligible for membership in the Institute of Hospital Engineers Australia (IHEA).
- Demonstrated senior management experience in health facilities engineering or a similar complex facility.
- Experience in leading and management of technical & trade staff
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant performance & maintenance strategies
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
